WARDORX / HEAT / RESPONSE

SEO for HVAC contractors in Calgary

Furnace-out calls do not browse. The page has to answer, price, and book inside one screen. The site has to load on a cold phone in a driveway.

THE OPPORTUNITY

The moment the heat stops.

An HVAC business runs two different jobs. One is the emergency call when the furnace stops in February. The other is the planned replacement that a homeowner researches for weeks. Most sites try to serve both on the same page and convert neither.

The emergency path needs a phone number as selectable text at the top of the page, a stated dispatch window, and a price floor. Nothing else should load before that. The replacement path needs cost ranges, efficiency comparisons, and financing numbers. Those pages can be longer.

WARDORX builds the emergency spine first, then the research pages. The site is a 14-page fullstack build in 14 days for the first 10 clients if you supply the domain. After that, founding is $1,250 and Launch is $2,500. Optional SEO is $1,000 a month after a 90-day term.

THE STRATEGY / 01

WARDORX / HEAT / RESPONSEDrag to rotate
01

Emergency queries

People searching "furnace repair Calgary" or "no heat emergency" are not reading an About page. They are standing in a cold house. The page that ranks for these terms needs to answer three things in the first screen: do you come out now, how long until someone arrives, and what is the starting price.

We put the phone number as text, not an image. We state the dispatch window as a number from your actual data. We list the after-hours rate if you charge one. The page has almost no navigation. It exists to produce a call.

These queries also hit the map pack. Your Google Business Profile category, recent photos of furnace work, and reviews that mention "furnace replacement same day" do more for the pack than any on-page work. Proximity still limits how far from your pin you appear.

02

Replacement and financing

"Furnace replacement cost Calgary" and "heat pump rebate Alberta" are researched queries. The homeowner has time. They want a number they can compare and a monthly payment if they finance. A page that publishes a cost range for a high-efficiency furnace versus a mid-efficiency unit, and states the current rebate rules, gets the traffic and the links.

Rebate programs change. A page that is updated when the program changes earns citations from sites outside the trade. National content farms do not maintain Alberta-specific rebate pages. That is one of the few places a local HVAC company can outrank them.

03

Maintenance plans

Tune-ups and maintenance plans are lower ticket but higher lifetime value. The page for these is short. It lists what each visit includes, the price, and how to sign up. It does not try to sell a furnace replacement.

04

Extra pages that matter

Most HVAC sites stop at a services page. The pages that actually move calls are:

  • Emergency no-heat page with nothing but the phone and the dispatch window.
  • Furnace replacement page with published cost bands and financing.
  • Heat pump and rebate page that stays current.
  • Maintenance plan page.
  • Brand pages for the equipment you service (Lennox, Carrier, Goodman). Someone searching "Lennox furnace repair" already owns the equipment.

We write the first draft of these pages. You edit them. The photos come from your jobs.

05

Map pack and the profile

The map pack for emergency furnace searches is proximity-dominated. A single-location shop cannot rank city-wide in the pack with content alone. The realistic play is to own the organic results across the metro and the pack in your immediate radius. Review velocity and a correctly configured service-area profile expand that radius over time.

We manage the profile separately for $149 a month if you want that done. Categories, services, weekly posts with real job photos, and review replies. No contract.

06

What the build includes

The 14-day build ships a Next.js site. You own the code, the domain, the analytics, and the content from launch day. The code goes to your repository. Hosting is $10 a month. The first 10 clients get the 14-page site free if they supply the domain. After that, founding is $1,250 and Launch is $2,500.

SEO is optional at $1,000 a month. The first term is 90 days, then month to month. It includes four location and service pages a month, call tracking, and a report. Maps management and review collection are not included in the SEO month.

07

Seasonality

The first sustained cold snap turns a normal week into a queue. The businesses that capture it are the ones already ranking when it arrives. Starting the site work in November is late. The pages need to be live and indexed before the first freeze.

08

Talk through the next step

Call +1 (250) 344-1619 or book at https://www.wardorx.com/book. We will look at the current site and the profile and say whether a rebuild, SEO, or nothing is the next step.

09

Location pages that are not thin

A location page only ranks if it contains information that exists nowhere else on the site. For HVAC that means the neighbourhoods you actually dispatch to, the response time from your closest depot to that area, the permit rules for that municipality, photos from jobs in that area, and a testimonial from a customer in that area. Swapping the city name into a template produces a page Google filters. We do not build those.

If you serve Airdrie, Cochrane, and Okotoks from Calgary, each of those pages gets its own set of facts. If you do not have the facts, we do not publish the page.

10

Cost ranges that are usable

A homeowner searching furnace replacement cost wants a range, not "call for a quote". We publish bands for a standard high-efficiency furnace installation and a heat pump where the data is public. The bands are ranges, not promises. Financing numbers come from the lenders you already work with. The page states what is included in the range and what is extra.

11

Brand service pages

Someone who already owns a Lennox or Carrier unit searches the brand name plus repair. Most HVAC sites never build these pages. The competition is lower. The conversion is higher because the person already has the equipment. We write a short page for each major brand you service. It lists the common failures and the starting price for a diagnostic.

12

After-hours and dispatch

The emergency page states whether you answer at 2am and what the after-hours rate is. If you do not run after hours, the page says so. Hiding the policy costs calls from people who need the information before they dial. We pull the actual dispatch window from your records rather than writing "fast response".

13

What the SEO month adds

The $1,000 a month SEO retainer adds four location or service pages a month, call tracking, and a report. It does not include Google Business Profile management or review collection. Those are separate. The pages we add use the same rules: real local facts, answer first, no city-name swaps.

14

Measurement

We track calls from the site and from the profile. We do not report a ranking position as a result. A ranking that does not produce a call is not useful. The monthly report shows the calls, the pages that received them, and what changed.

15

Ownership and exit

You own the code from launch day. If you stop the SEO month, the site stays up. Hosting continues at $10 a month. You can edit the site yourself or ask us to make changes at the hourly rate. Nothing switches off.

Call +1 (250) 344-1619 or book at https://www.wardorx.com/book. Bring the current site address and the profile link. We will say whether a rebuild, the SEO month, or nothing is the next step.

16

Financing and rebate pages

Alberta rebate programs for heat pumps and high-efficiency equipment change. A page that lists the current program, the eligibility rules, and the typical rebate amount gets searched and gets linked. National sites do not update these for Alberta. The page is short. It states the current rules and the date it was last checked. When the program changes, we update the page. That single update is often enough to keep the citations.

Financing pages work the same way. Publish the monthly payment range for a typical furnace replacement using the lenders you already work with. Homeowners compare the monthly number more than the total. The page states that the payment depends on credit and the final scope.

17

What we do not publish

We do not publish population numbers, average local business statistics, or search volume claims. We do not have a verified source for those, and stale numbers are worse than none. We do not invent neighbourhood coverage or dispatch times. If the data is not in your records, the page does not claim it.

CLEAR ANSWERS

Before you
make the call.

Can an HVAC site rank city-wide from one location?
Organically yes. In the map pack, proximity is the largest factor. Own organic across the metro and the pack near your pin.
Should emergency and replacement be on the same page?
No. Emergency wants one action. Replacement wants cost and financing. Merging them converts neither.
Do brand pages get traffic?
Yes. "Lennox furnace repair" and similar terms are less competitive because most competitors never build them.
What does the site cost?
Free for the first 10 if you supply the domain. Then $1,250 founding or $2,500 Launch. Optional SEO $1,000 a month.
