SEO for electricians in Calgary

Panel upgrades, EV chargers and code compliance are three different buyers. Most electrician sites address none of them specifically.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Connect the right demand.

Electrical work is less emergency-weighted than plumbing and more project-weighted. The money is in planned upgrades: panels, service increases, EV charging, and generators. Those jobs are researched, compared, and permitted. The site needs separate pages for each buyer instead of one general services page.

Emergency calls still happen (no power, burning smell), but they are a smaller share of revenue than the upgrades. The emergency page still needs the phone as text above the fold. The upgrade pages need cost ranges and what the permit process actually involves.

The 14-page fullstack site is free for the first 10 clients if you supply the domain. After that founding is $1,250 and Launch is $2,500. Optional SEO is $1,000 a month.

THE STRATEGY / 01

01

Project research queries

"Panel upgrade cost Calgary", "100 amp to 200 amp upgrade", and "EV charger installation cost" are researched searches. The homeowner wants a range and to know whether the panel can handle the charger. A page that publishes a cost band for a typical panel upgrade and states what is included (permit, inspection, materials) gets the traffic. The same for EV chargers: level 2 installation cost, whether the existing panel is sufficient, and the rebate rules if any.

Code compliance and inspection pages address a different buyer, often a property manager or a homeowner who failed an inspection. These pages state the common failures and the starting price for the correction work.

02

Emergency

"Electrician near me open now" and "no power in house" still need a fast path. Phone number as text, stated response window, and after-hours rate if you charge one. These also hit the map pack. Primary category is "Electrician". Secondary categories cover installation and lighting if you do that work.

03

Extra pages

  • Panel upgrade and service increase page with published cost bands.
  • EV charger installation page with cost and panel capacity check.
  • Generator installation page.
  • Code compliance and inspection correction page.
  • Short diagnostic pages for common issues (breaker keeps tripping, lights flickering).

Brand or product pages (specific charger brands, panel manufacturers) get less competition than the generic terms.

04

Map pack and profile

Proximity still dominates the pack for emergency searches. Own organic for the researched terms across the metro. Profile management at $149 a month handles categories, services list, weekly posts with job photos, and review replies. Reviews that name the job ("panel upgrade same week") help more than generic five-star reviews.

05

Build and ownership

You own the code from launch day. Hosting $10 a month. SEO month adds four pages a month plus call tracking and a report. Maps and review collection are separate.

06

Talk through the next step

07

Panel upgrade details

A typical 100-amp to 200-amp upgrade has a published range on the page. The range includes the panel, the permit, the inspection, and the labour for a standard residential job. It states what raises the price: long wire runs, outdated wiring that must be brought up, or difficult access. The page links to the EV charger page because many upgrades are driven by a charger install.

08

EV charger pages

Level 2 charger installation is growing. The page asks whether the existing panel has capacity and states the typical cost if it does. If the panel needs an upgrade, it links to the panel page. Rebate rules, if current, are listed with the date checked. Brand-specific pages for common chargers get less competition.

09

Code and inspection

Failed inspection pages list the common items that fail in Alberta and the starting price to correct them. Property managers search these terms. The page is short and factual.

10

Measurement and ownership

You own the site. Call tracking is included in the SEO month. We report calls, not rankings. If the calls do not move, we say so and change the pages.

11

Permit and inspection reality

Panel upgrades and many EV installs require a permit and inspection in Alberta. The page states that the price includes the permit and the inspection for a standard job. It lists the common reasons an inspection fails so the homeowner knows what to expect. This reduces the "why is this taking so long" calls after the job is sold.

12

Commercial versus residential

If you do both, they are different pages. Commercial buyers search different terms and care about different proof (insurance limits, previous commercial jobs). Residential pages focus on cost and timeline for a house. Mixing them loses both.

13

What the SEO month adds for electricians

Four pages a month. Typical additions are neighbourhood pages with real dispatch data, additional brand or charger pages, and diagnostic pages for tripping breakers or flickering lights. Each page has to earn its place with facts or it does not publish.

14

Ownership

Code, domain, analytics, and content are yours from launch day. Hosting continues at $10 a month if you stop the SEO. Changes after the 30-day fix window are at the hourly rate.

15

Additional practical notes

The work follows the same rules as the rest of the site. No invented statistics. No ranking guarantees. No city-name swaps. Pages publish only when they contain facts that exist nowhere else or answer a question customers already ask. You own the output. The monthly services can be cancelled. The goal is calls from the map pack and the service pages, measured by the tracking we set up, not by a position report.

If the current site already has the phone as text, answer-first service pages, and a complete profile, the next step may be nothing or only the profile management. We say that on the call. We do not sell a rebuild or a retainer to a business that does not need one.

Photos, dispatch data, and job notes from your crew are what make the pages specific. Without them the pages stay generic and do not rank or convert. Send what you have. We write the first draft. You correct it.

CLEAR ANSWERS

Before you
make the call.

Should panel upgrades and EV chargers be on the same page?
No. Different buyers, different questions, different cost structures. Separate pages convert better.
Do EV charger pages get traffic?
Yes. The search volume is growing and most electrician sites still treat it as a line on a services page.
What does the site cost?
Free for the first 10 if you supply the domain. Then $1,250 founding or $2,500 Launch.
